Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood did not say,

“The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”

In any of the two pieces a quick search of accredited articles I looked at:

http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext05/8wmnr10.txt

Alex has done a good job at presenting this worldview. A really good job, since it held my attention over the last couple of days. I agree with his main point that US citizens should wake up and look around, see what is going on---and what has gone on while they have dozed in front of the TV for years, if not decades---and calling citizens to stand up and speak out.

Where I remain skeptical, however, is in the details. Briefly, here are points raised in the program that pique my skepticism.

1. It lays a huge proportion of blame on a president holding office for merely a year. Only after 47 minutes does Jones lay the blame for the financial bailouts of Oct. 2008 squarely on the Bush administration, in power for 8 years.

2. Only after ~1:10, the treason of torture policy by BushCo. is finally raised.

3. Not once in the entire program is the subject of Bush's sidling up to Vicente Fox of Mexico with the Security and Prosperity Partnership. This is the centerpiece of the North American Union. Why does Jones not mention the SPP at all?

4. At 1:40, blame for NAFTA goes to Clinton. In reality, GHW Bush #41 tried his damnedest to fast track NAFTA legislation through Congress, without the provisions for US workers that were finally inserted by the time Clinton signed it in '93. Why this omission on the part of Daddy Bush? After all, it was Bush 41 who uttered the phrase "new world order" before he lost his 2nd term bid in '92. None of this is not mentioned.

5. Gore is a "con artist"? That may be, but there is not one mention of Karl Rove---"Bush's Brain"---in the entire program. And he was the prime mover of BushCo propaganda.

6. At ~1:53, almost 2 hours into the diatribe against the successor to executive powers predicated by BushCo, Jones shows Ohio Republican John Boehner whining about not having a mere 300 pages of legislation to review before a vote. Why does Jones ignore the PATRIOT Act, that single piece of legislation rammed through a Republican congress with at least as little time for review by the congress that summarily revoked a vast number of individual freedoms and rights long held by citizens?

7. NORTHCOM was instituted by BushCo in 2002, not by Obama. The precedent was set on so many levels via BushCo. The fact that these travesties of justice were enacted by a conservative administration is glossed over.

8. The "public is under a trance." Agreed. Could it be that often-cited Fox News Channel could be partly responsible for this trance? You betcha. But Jones does not single out FNC for dumbing down the majority of conservatives; indeed, he cites them without apology.

9. Infragard was an idea kicked around in the 90s, but it was Bush 43 who signed it into law.

10. And who repealed the Posse Comitatus Act? GW Bush 43, on Oct 17, 2006.

11. I agree wholeheartedly with Jesse Ventura and Jones on the appeal to citizens to either continue watching TV (ie, FNC) or pay attention (via independent news sources, internet, etc.)

I am not refuting information given here unless it is obvious. Rather, I am like Ventura as he claims early on that he doesn't want to believe it...but I gotta check it out, paraphrased. What I humbly ask of the folks who are trying to rightly convince the American people to wake up and DO something is to cease omitting vital evidence and explanations for how we as citizens arrived at this point in history. Glossing over the sins of conservatives and vilifying liberals for all the ills of the country is not going to win over the liberals, who are just as angry and frustrated at the betrayal of elected officials as conservatives are.

I lean left. Jones leans right. This does not mean that we are mutually exclusive; it means we HAVE to meet in the middle, and to do so meaningfully is to acknowledge past mistakes---and freely admit them; call bull shit on all sides of the debate; engage those with whom we agree and disagree to the end that we must figure out a way to disrupt an imminent collapse of our society as we know it.

But it must be nonviolent. People cannot continue to carry weapons to political rallies and expect that anyone who is able to affect needed changes will be persuaded to do so. We must keep our guns at home in those instances. Editorials to local newspapers, pointed questions at local town hall meetings by politicians, revive grass roots efforts to build community as Jones rightly exhorts, and on and on. But nonviolently. Appealing to base emotions is not going to win over thinking converts. Make people think, not act out. By thinking, people will come to consensus on how to get out of this mess. But by making sweeping judgments and placing all-inclusive monikers on only certain politicians of a particular political stripe will only delay what needs to be done.

For if you go carrying defaced pictures of any US president, right, left or libertarian, you ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow.

Other than that, I really am grateful to Alex Jones and to Barbara Peterson for helping to bring sense to the hypnotized masses.

Skeptically, but always open-mindedly yours,
Tom

I like Gerald's conclusion. New job opportunities involving alternative energies.

And yes, Beck panders to fear rather than intellect. At least Gerald espouses intelligence over fear-mongering.

You are in the high desert, at a slightly less elevation than I am, which means a longer, warmer growing season.

Here are the weather statistics:

http://www.wunderground.com/NORMS/DisplayNORMS.asp?AirportCode=KSBD&SafeCityName=Hesperia&StateCode=CA&Units=none&IATA=DAG

From this, it looks like the average is NO SNOW! And, the lows look to be in the high 30's. Excellent! I would love to have those conditions here.

Here is a site I ran across for growing apples in SoCal:

http://www.kuffelcreek.com/apples.htm

Lots of good info.

Here is another link that goes into all sorts of tips for growing fruits and veggies in that area:

http://local.garden.org/Edibles_Hesperia_CA-t2473_Hesperia+CA.html

I don't know why you couldn't grow roses there, we can here, but the deer get them rather quickly.

Since it is high desert, I would condition the soil, beware of frost, and protect any young plants from freezing.

Thank you everyone, for the support. Monty is doing better every day. My major issue right now is keeping my mare from stealing his food. She will tear a barn down for a bite of food, and it is a constant battle to keep her weight down. If she eats too much, which she wants to do constantly, she gets obese. Right now she is working tirelessly on the panel I put up to keep her out of Monty's food trough :)

Words of wisdom, Barbara...someone recently dumped a pregnant cat on our street, and while I didn't want the responsibility of it all, I knew what I had to do. Our 2 cats had died a couple of years ago, (ages 17 and 18) and we did not want another cat right now. Needless to say, we now have 5 after mom gave birth to 4 kittens. Watching them play has been so much fun. They are hilarious, and I don't regret doing what I knew was the right thing.

And Ed, "accumulated incompetence" is probably a good term to describe a large percentage of people. With all the rapes, murders, drive-by shootings, and the like, it makes me wonder if we're not on a perpetual downward spiral as a country.
