A new food safety bill is on the fast track in Congress-HR 2749, the Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009. The bill needs to be stopped.
HR 2749 gives FDA tremendous power while significantly diminishing existing judicial restraints on actions taken by the agency. The bill would impose a one-size-fits-all regulatory scheme on small farms and local artisanal producers; and it would disproportionately impact their operations for the worse. READ MORE…

I am a grass roots farmer from southwest Kansas and I have had direct confrontation with Big Ag for sometime.
They will always try to use legislation to ban any competitors. Why? They know about “Pocket Book Voting”.
The last thing they want is to be REGULATED BY CONSUMERS!
So, they work day and night to get rid of any viable competition….albeit…they work 24/7 to try and preserve the image that they want FREE MARKETS, WHILE ALL THE WHILE WORKING TO ELIMINATE THEM!
A retired person that had worked for one of the Big Ag corporations, was once asked how he made his corporation into such a powerful market force? What was the Key?
He stated it’s very simple: One must have the perspective that the consumer is YOUR ENEMY….your CLOSEST COMPETITOR IS YOUR FRIEND!
In otherwords, work under the table to make untraceable ALLIANCES WITH YOUR HANDFUL OF COMPETITORS….AND EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY!
The consumer will NOT know that he is BEING SCREWED. If he does not know it, to him it is not happening!
Big Ag preaches day and night, they want OPEN MARKETS, while working 24/7 to make sure this does not happen!
They also love to use government agencies to impose strict regualtions. Why? They have a hired staff, with connections into Washington D.C. that will use any regulation to regualte OUT ANY SMALL, INDEPENDENT COMPETITORS, while using, interpreting, these same laws to act as a shield to protect them.
Most people do not know it, but, we have laws in place that are designed to stop MONOPOLIZING OF MARKETS! How can this happen then? They break themselves up into untraceable ALLIANCES,…. and there you go!
I have seen this happen in the small independent packers and processors as well as in the grain marketing business, right here where I live!
Big Ag CANNOT BE STOPPED WITH LEGISLATION!
The womb, supporting infrastructure from which they get their existence…..has to be changed!!!! Any direct attack will only in the end, act to serve their purposes..
Thanks for the information!

The beginning of wisdom is to call a thing by it’s proper name.
That’s why the Department of War was changed to the Department of Defense. That is why the CIA, branched out into a NGO called the National Endowment for Democracy.
Now these agencies are free, (under cover) to do their EVIL DEEDS.
