gmo-contamination

You’ve got it, folks. American aliens are invading Mexico. Not with backpacks and children in tow, but on the winds of cross-pollination. If you don’t know what cross-pollination is, here is a definition:

Cross Pollination - The fertilization of the ovary on one plant with pollen from another plant, producing a progeny with a new genetic makeup distinct from either parent.

And just how does this pollen get from one plant to the other? Insects, birds, and wind. Simple, and uncontrollable by the human hand. A GMO plant from one field has pollen. That pollen is picked up by a bee or the wind and carried to another field where it randomly pollinates an unprotected plant. Bingo! Cross-pollination. The offspring will never be the same. It will be some sort of GMO abomination called a transgenic plant. Bye bye organic fields, bye bye unique crops and centuries old seed varieties, hello Monsanto clones.

And Mexico is concerned as well it should be, because the ever elusive answer to the question of  “just how does one go about cleaning up the mess?” is as Donovan sings, “ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.” That’s right, folks. It cannot be cleaned up, just as the wind cannot be controlled. As long as GMO plants are allowed to run free and pollinate at will, no crop is safe.

How about Terminator seed technology, you say? Terminator seeds are engineered to be sterile. Terminator seeds are what we hear about. What Monsanto doesn’t talk about is Traitor seed technology. You see, while we were all worried about seeds that would not bear fruit for the next year, Monsanto and company have been happily flooding the planet with Traitor seeds. These seeds will most definitely bear fruit. The problem with them is this – they contain a trigger mechanism genetically engineered to require the application of an outside force to trigger the gene trait. A two-part mix, if you will. The seed is genetically manipulated to produce a plant that requires the application of something external like Monsanto’s Round-up pesticide to trigger the growth mechanism of the plant.

GENETIC MUTILATION: An especially disturbing feature of some of the new patents profiled in RAFI’s report is the deliberate disabling of natural plant functions that help to fight disease. Swiss biotech giant Novartis is most advanced in this aspect of Traitor technology. Novartis blandly refers to it as “inactivation of endogenous regulation” so that “genes which are natively regulated can be regulated exclusively by the application to the plant of a chemical regulator.”

Among the genes which Novartis can control in this manner are patented SAR (systemic acquired resistance) genes which are critical to plant’s ability to fight off infections from many viruses and bacteria. Thus, Novartis has patented techniques to create plants with natural healthy functions turned off. “The only way to turn them back on and fix these ‘damaged goods’ ” says RAFI’s Edward Hammond, “is, well, you guessed it, the application of a proprietary chemical.”

Organic Consumers Association 1999

If enough chemicals are not applied, the genetically modified plants’ genes are not triggered and they do not grow well. You have to apply the appropriate chemicals to get them to grow. This is what I believe happened in India with the Bt Cotton, when the farmers committed suicide. They could not afford all of the chemicals. Coincidentally, the same company that manufactures the seeds manufactures the appropriate chemicals. This is even more insidious than the Terminator seed technology because it is being kept secret. Farmers think they are applying insecticides to get rid of pests, and they are really applying them to trigger the genetically modified gene trait so the plants will grow. No pesticides, no growth.

So, if the Traitor seeds don’t get you, the Monsanto Gestapo will if they find out their abominations have infected your fields. Read the following article from New Scientist. It is short, but probably had to be to escape the ever-watchful eyes of the Monsanto Gestapo. After all, if Monsanto gets wind of this, the Mexican farmers are through. Monsanto will own their farms because their abominations are patented.

‘Alien’ genes escape into wild corn
New Scientist

NOW it’s official: genes from genetically modified corn have escaped into wild varieties in rural Mexico. A new study resolves a long-running controversy over the spread of GM genes and suggests that detecting such escapes may be tougher than previously thought.

***ACTION ALERT***

WHAT: CongressionaHearing on NAIS

WHEN: Wednesday, March 11

WHERE: Washington, DC

The U.S. House Agriculture Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry will hold a hearing on NAIS on March 11.  Bills to put NAIS into law, HR875 and companion Senate S814, are being pushed through Congress, as well as an Appropriations Bill with funding for NAIS.  This hearing is critical to blocking mandatory NAIS.

ACTION: Please call and fax all members of the subcommittee (below).

1.  When you call, ask to speak to the legislative aide for agriculture.  Form a positive relationship with the aide.  Become his or her source of knowledge for NAIS.  Be RESPECTFUL and POLITE.  Remember, who would the aide rather speak with, someone who is courteous or someone angry and resentful?

2.  Please send this to everyone you know, ESPECIALLY to people in the states with members on the subcommittee.  Members need to hear from their constituents–the people who vote them into office.

If you are in one of these states, please arrange a meeting with the district representative of the Congressman.  That makes a big difference.  We need to be real people to the legislators, so that when they think “farm” or “food” they think of us, not Monsanto, Cargill, Tyson, etc…

(NOTE: The colors are for easier reading.  They have no political meaning).

More than a decade after Monsanto and other biotech companies first introduced transgenic corn, soybeans, and canola seeds to American farmers, a second generation of genetically modified (GM) foods is poised to hit supermarket coolers: transgenic meat, milk and fish. In January, the Food and Drug Administration paved the way for GM meat to be sold in the U.S., announcing they would evaluate GM animals the same way they regulate new animal drugs. Since then a handful of applications for specific GM animals have been filed with the agency, including a fast-growing “AquaAdvantage” salmon. AquaBounty, the company behind the salmon, hopes for FDA approval of the technology sometime this year.

Take a look at this video of the inside of the Doomsday Seed Vault. Does anyone else find it interesting that this Global Seed Bank contains pure, non-GMO seeds just in case there is a catastrophic event that would require re-seeding the entire planet?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Monsanto and our Federal Government are working tirelessly to infect the entire planet with Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), while at the same time making sure that the average Joe is unable to save his own seeds through a combination of  Terminator seed technology and Gestapo-like practices, and is forced to propagate the very GMO scourge that the Doomsday Seed Vault is built to address.

So, we have a huge global seed bank that contains seeds that the average Joe hasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell of gaining access to, and no privately-owned personal seed banks. And just who do you think will have access to the only remaining supply of unaltered seeds after this planned-for and orchestrated catastrophe? Your guess is as good as mine, but I’ll place my bet on the ruling elite after they exterminate 80% of the little people like you and me through a combination of complete control over food and water, as well as endless war.

The solution? If we allow this takeover to happen, and it is happening right before our eyes, then we need to be prepared to maintain a grassroots underground network of private food suppliers or succumb to whatever the ruling elite have planned for us. And just what is that plan? Let me spell it out: G E N O C I D E.

From RFD America

I’ve been reading the stimulus bill. When I saw the term Smart Grid on page 72 of the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009,” I stopped reading so fast I almost gave myself whiplash. If you haven’t heard about Smart Grid, listen up. Smart Grid is closely related to the National Animal Identification System (NAIS), and both programs are designed to spy on Americans. Even more disturbing than the purpose of these government-condoned intrusions into our lives is the fact that the Obama Administration feels that Smart Grid is so important that it had to be funded in the stimulus package—which is supposed to be used for emergencies only. What’s the emergency? Why does Smart Grid need to be implemented within 60 days of the bill passing? Here come the answers, and none of them are good. READ MORE

Limited gardening space? Try vertical gardening. It’s simple, space effective, and fun!

Vertical gardening is a very efficient method of growing your own food in a limited space. It is effective, and even if you have several acres to plant, vertical gardening is easier to take care of, and easier on your back than traditional horizontal gardening. Less weeding is required because your plants are growing vertically, and less water is required because there is not as much soil to absorb it. Take a look at the following video, and get started vertical gardening!

patented-by-monsanto-copy

First the Svalgaard Seedbank, then the Nordic Gene Bank for Farm Animals. The Nordic region seems to be a popular place for storing natural seeds and untainted animal genetic resources. The reasons for the Svalgaard Seedbank are clear enough. When the world is overcome by GM technology, and we the little people are forced to eat whatever genetic trait and/or trigger mechanism Monsanto et al have implanted in our Cheerios, the world’s ruling elite will need a clean seed bank for their own food. Now we are seeing the beginnings of the same type of manipulation with our meat.

There are major changes influencing the animal production sector: ‘livestock revolution’ seen as increased global consumption of animal products, intensive and industrialized production systems, major environmental impacts, global warming, increased risks for pandemic diseases (even zoonoses), international trade of high-output breeds, narrow selection goals and loss of variation in breeding programmes, niche production with local breeds and growing interest in patenting. (NordGen Farm Animals, 2009)

Note the last phrase: “growing interest in patenting.” Ah, yes. Isn’t that interesting.

In February 2005, Monsanto published multiple patent applications at the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. These proposed patents encompass nearly the entire lifespan of a pig destined for slaughter, from conception to selection. (Natural News, 2005)

When you patent something, you have control over it. Just ask the grain and veggie farmers who are being put out of business by Monsanto thugs if patenting our food supply is a good idea.

Monsanto contaminates the fields, trespasses onto the land taking samples and if they find any GMO plants growing there (or say they have), they then sue, saying they own the crop. It’s a way to make money since farmers can’t fight back in court and they settle because they have no choice. (SMCC, 2009)

Now the Federal government wants to inflict NAIS on us in an attempt to force people who own any type of ranch or farm animal to allow tracking of their animals from birth to death, with stiff penalties imposed for not filling out the appropriate paperwork when your chicken crosses the road.

Now add it up. First Monsanto gets the okay by the Feds to inflict on the public, without their knowledge or consent, patented GMO seed technology. Our grocery shelves are loaded with genetically modified frankenfood, Monsanto is bankrupting farmers, and normal seeds are being put out of reach. Now Monsanto and company are attempting the same thing with our livestock. If NAIS goes through, our groceries will be filled with genetically modified meat, and of course, like the GMO grains and veggies, will require no labeling. The only ones who will be raising livestock are the big corporations, and any little guy who gets in their way will be effectively squashed by NAIS if his chicken happens to cross the road.

Here is an excellent article by Marti Oakley that outlines the way NAIS is another attempt to control global food supplies. Read it and weep.

NAIS: Another link in the attempts to control food supplies worldwide

By Marti Oakley

Anyone who has researched the history of the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) realizes very quickly that this global strategy being pushed by the toxic Monsanto Corporation, Genus, PIC and the United Nations is nothing less than a plan to seize control of the world’s food production on every level. Like the efforts to convert water from a human right to one of a commodity to be sold only to those who can afford it, food of all kinds, from all sources, will no longer be a human right if these Frankenfood corporations and the UN are successful. Click here.

Genus, and other corporations that are jumping on the bandwagon in the hopes of patenting animal genetic resources, is the primary force behind NAIS. The USDA is a willing and compliant partner, acting as lawmaker, spy, judge and executioner. The USDA, having been reported repeatedly for illegal search and seizure, acts as a mercenary agency on behalf of corporate interests without reprimand from Congress. In fact, you would never know we even have a Congress when it comes to NAIS and the actions of the USDA.

The intent of biotech companies is to monopolize existing breeds of farm animals just as they have done with genetically altered seeds. Seventy-three percent of all grain now grown in the US is genetically altered and patented. The intent is to pirate all grain crops using seed, which, in the case of Monsanto, is only “leased” to the farmer – not sold. This, according to a rule Monsanto developed itself, after the seeds had been sold. Using this rule, Monsanto sues farmers, after sending their own mercenary agents storming onto private land collecting samples and seizing crops.

According to No Patents on Seeds on the ‘inventors’ of animal breeds:

“Corporations like PIC and Genus, who are among the biggest international players in the animal breeding sector, are especially active in buying up other firms and patent applications filed. Monsanto is on the other hand entering this business as a relative outsider, having been basically active in a different area. This company has not only bought its way into pig breeding and filed patents having a broad coverage, it has also concluded extensive licensing agreements with the genome company, MetaMorphix, which has for its part filed numerous patent applications in this sphere.”

Rather than advancing biodiversity, which is the claim of not only biotech, but also the United Nations, genetic alteration of existing breeds of livestock and the resulting patents would seriously reduce diversity. Hybrids resulting from genetic tampering would be highly susceptible to disease if such tampering did not actually create new and unknown diseases.

Regarding “Main Genetics Companies in Global Livestock Breeding,” No Patents on Seeds reports:

“The US company Monsanto, net sales 7 billion USD, is better known for its leadership in genetically modified seed than in livestock genes. But with Monsanto’s acquisition, cooperation and patent policy regarding cattle and pig, it in a few years may well dominate gene markets not only with regard to plants but also to livestock. In 2004 it entered a strategic and exclusive collaboration with the genetic research company MetaMorphix, giving Monsanto access to the completest available swine genome data available.” Click here.

Genetic alteration is not the same as selective breeding where livestock is carefully bred to produce the best qualities of the breed. Genetic alteration generally is done to accelerate growth or production at the expense of the animal.

The wildly false claims Monsanto made about recombinant bovine growth hormone [rBGH] is a prime example of the harsh affects of forcing accelerated growth or production. Monsanto claimed rBGH increased production by at least 20%. They just failed to tell the farmer or consumer the 20% was the result of mastitis and the increase was the amount of pus in the milk that resulted from using the growth hormone. Click here.

In order for genetic patenting to overtake independent livestock producers, it is necessary to know who is breeding what and where is it located. That’s where NAIS comes in. This system, if it isn’t stopped, will catalogue all farm and ranch animals and domestic pets. Once catalogued, this data will be held in corporate databanks that tell the biotech company just exactly where to establish their altered breeds. As with the contamination of natural crops by uncontrolled genetically altered seeds, companies such as Monsanto will develop herds in close proximity to natural herds and wait for the opportunity to present itself for cross-breeding. Once they are assured this has happened, the livestock owner will be sued, just like the seed farmer, and a valuable natural herd will be stolen and the USDA will likely be doing the herding.

Behind all of the USDA grandstanding about needing to be able to track disease outbreaks lays the true intent. The USDA is not concerned with food safety or animal disease outbreaks. The USDA is facilitating the data collection necessary to locate, identify and seize natural herds and to establish industrialized factory farms to replace independent farms and ranches in the US.

Every effort must be expended to not only halt any further activity in implementing NAIS, but also to abolish the USDA which has become nothing more than a mercenary enforcement arm of biotech pirates.

A short introduction to GMO and Monsanto.

Barb

“This is an important message about genetically modified foods, and the implications for human health and the biosphere of our planet.

These technologies have not been properly tested, and I ask you to do your own research into the issue, this is simply an introduction.

Wake up world. The awakening is here.” (academianon)

In this day and age of GMO grains and veggies, one way to make sure that you have an endless supply of your own organic seeds is to save your own.

I will start this series of videos with the collection and storage of tomato seeds.

The first step towards collecting and storing your seeds  is to grow your own tomatoes in a container, open garden space, or whatever area you have designated for growing your own food. Now you have the foundation for creating your very own seed bank.

Make sure the seeds you use for your garden are organic heirloom seeds. These seeds can be purchased at a number of online retailers specializing in organic seeds, just Google “organic seeds.” Get them while you can, then start saving your own.

If you have a packet of seeds and are unsure whether or not they are GMO, just Google the seed company and search their site. Most companies that have non-GMO seeds will tell you on their site. If you cannot find the information on the site, get the phone number and call the company. If they say they don’t know, or do not say right away that their seeds are non-GMO, then run, do not walk, away.

Remember that legislation is brought forth constantly by the Monsantos of this world to destroy the organic protections we now enjoy by including new rules for organic certification allowing GMO, irradiation, and sewage sludge. So don’t assume, ask.

Here is the video on collecting and storing your tomato seeds:

To amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Federal Meat Inspection Act, the Poultry Products Inspection Act, and the Egg Products Inspection Act to improve the safety of food, meat, and poultry products through enhanced traceability, and for other purposes.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

February 3, 2009

Ms. DEGETTE (for herself, Ms. BORDALLO, Mr. NADLER of New York, and Ms. DELAURO) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture, and in addition to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

H.R. 814 called the [Tracing and Recalling Agricultural Contamination Everywhere Act of 2009] or, [The Trace Act of 2009] is nothing less than the federal intent to mandate the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) and of course “and for other purposes”.

SEC. 26. TRACEABILITY OF LIVESTOCK, MEAT, AND MEAT PRODUCTS

(a) Definition of Traceability- In this section, the term ‘traceability’ means the ability to retrieve the history, use, and location of an article through a recordkeeping and audit system or registered identification.

(b) Requirements-

(1) IN GENERAL- Cattle, sheep, swine, goats, and horses, mules, and other equines presented for slaughter for human food purposes, and the carcasses or parts of carcasses and the meat and meat food products of those animals, shipped in interstate commerce shall be identified in a manner that enables the Secretary to trace-

(A) each animal to any premises or other location at which the animal was held at any time before slaughter; and

(B) each carcass or part of a carcass and meat and meat food product of such animals forward from slaughter through processing and distribution to the ultimate consumer.

(2) TRACEABILITY SYSTEM- Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this section, the Secretary shall establish a traceability system for all stages of production, processing, and distribution of meat and meat food products that are produced through the slaughter of animals described in paragraph (1).

(c) Prohibition or Restriction on Entry- The Secretary may prohibit or restrict entry into any slaughtering establishment inspected under this Act of any cattle, sheep, swine, goats, or horses, mules, or other equines not identified as prescribed by the Secretary under subsection (b).

Apparently USDA was inefficient in its efforts to forcibly overtake the US food supplies and the federal government has found it necessary to intervene and make mandatory the implementation of NAIS on all levels.

SEC. 26. TRACEABILITY OF LIVESTOCK, MEAT, AND MEAT PRODUCTS.

(g) Relation to Country of Origin Labeling- Nothing contained in this section prevents or interferes with implementation of the country of origin labeling requirements of subtitle D of the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 (7 U.S.C. 1638 et seq.).’.

Isn’t this section a hoot!  No mention is made of the labeling law passed in 2005 requiring the country of origin to be listed on the label of foods, or, the listing of cloned, genetically altered or mutated foods.  A law which this same government has refused to enforce in deference to corporate donors who know the garbage they are packaging and selling isn’t fit for human consumption.

H.R. 814 is clearly nothing less than the federal legislation converting NAIS from a bad a idea to horrendous plan for seizing food production from any source in the US and handing it over to Frankenfood industrialized factory farms on behalf of the bio-pirates who have apparently bought and paid for this legislation.

Ms. Degette, Ms. Bordallo, and Mr. Nadler should all be removed from office.  In fact anyone supporting or voting to pass this latest piece of anti-American garbage should be run out of the country.

When will we stop abiding traitors, corporate whores and world government advocates in the government of the sovereign United States?  Our House and Senate on both sides are filled with individuals who have neither patriotism nor loyalty to this country and who work to dismantle our Republic, our freedom and our way of life.

The three “public servants” sponsoring this bill are just a small trio in what has become the wholesale destruction of our nation perpetrated by one corrupted congress after another.

What will it take for the American public to stand up and say “enough!”.
